![]() The substantial departure in Ark 2 is why Studio Wildcard "feel it is essential to provide players with a fully next-gen version of the original experience to ensure that fans can continue to enjoy the ARK they know for years to come."Īrk: Survival Ascended will launch "by the end of August 2023". They also say that producing Survival Ascended will help them to further their "mastery of the new engine and ultimately battle-test some of our riskier technical advancements."Īrk 2 is also apparently shaping up to be substantially different from Survival Evolved, with "Souls-like combat, primitive-only weaponry, and strict third-person mechanics – and an overall 'very serious' tone." That's a surprise set of ideas for a sequel to the original Ark, which was janky, both third- and first-person, and had terrible grind redeemed only by the daft joy of eventually being able to build a mobile artillery platform on the back of an amphibious dinosaur. They pin the delay on several factors, including the development team being new to Unreal Engine 5. "We’ve put much thought into delaying ARK 2 for the betterment of the final product and the team's well-being." "After careful consideration, we have decided to delay the sequel's launch to the end of 2024, when it will still launch exclusively on Xbox, Game Pass, and Windows distribution platforms (Steam/PC)," says the announcement. The bad news is you can only buy it in a $50 bundle with the sequel (which won't be finished for at least a year), and that the original Survival Evolved servers will be switched off when Ascended launches. To compensate, they're going to instead release Ark: Survival Ascended in August, a remaster of the original Ark: Survival Evolved that moves it over to Unreal Engine 5. ![]() The dinosaur survival sequel currently best known for having Vin Diesel in it, for some reason, was originally aiming for a 2023 release, but developers Studio Wildcard say they need more time. The update is set to arrive some time this December, and will be available across PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.ARK 2 has been delayed until the end of 2024. It was meant to launch this year, but we're running out of time, so there's a good chance it's also going to come out in 2023. At the time the plan was for the series to feature 14, 30-minute episodes, with two seasons already in production. ![]() No actual gameplay has been shown off for it just yet, so whether it meets that release date remains to be seen, but it is currently planned to launch on Xbox and PC.Īn animated series was also announced back in 2020, which will also feature Diesel, Tennant, and Madden, as well as some other big names like Karl Urban, Gerard Butler, and Michelle Yeoh. Tennant and Madden are actually reprising their roles as Sir Edmund Rockwell and Helena Walker respectively, so if you're a fan of those particular characters look forward to more of them.Īrk 2 is also on the way, currently planned for a 2023 release, and yes, Vin Diesel is still in it. The trailer also shows off… well, some kind of giant, human-eseuqe, octopus creature, presumably as some kind of boss you can face off against, so prepare for some nightmares if you come across it. Details are pretty slim on what this second part will actually entail, other than that there will be "new story cutscenes to introduce and conclude each Ark map." A short, slightly trippy trailer was shown off, which certainly does set up some dramatic events at the very least. The new story content will also feature Madeleine Madden, best known for The Wheel of Time. The second part of Ark: Survival Evolved's Genesis expansion is dropping soon, and with it comes the voice talents of Doctor Who himself David Tennant.
